Leaky gut mechanisms in giardiasis

چکیده

Abstract Giardia duodenalis is a common intestinal pathogen transmitted via consumption of contaminated water. In addition to causing distress symptoms, infection one the top 5 infectious causes growth stunting in children under two. Growth faltering complex pathology facilitated by changes barrier and enzymatic deficiencies. While widely associated with damage vitro, animal models, patient studies, mechanisms behind this process are not well understood. Since PAR2 has prominent role increased permeability Celiac disease, we focusing on involvement protease activated receptor 2 (PAR2) giardiasis-facilitated defects. We using human cell lines, murine organoids, mouse model address PAR2. Co-culture Caco2 cells results altered tight junction morphology as revealed staining for ZO-1; these reduced treatment antagonist. Effects signaling function being assessed measuring transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) PAR2+/− PAR2−/− organoids cultured transwell filters. Additionally, while C57BL/6 mice fed low-protein diet exhibit weight gain when infected Giardia, lacking normally infected. These data indicate that contributes defects faltering. Identifying parasite factors activate will provide novel targets development pharmaceuticals vaccines improve child growth. AI166467

‘Leaky gut’ in hematological malignancies☆

In humans, the intestinal epithelium is a single layer of cells that constitutes one of the most important barriers between internal and external environments. The so-called ‘intestinal barrier’ (IB) is a dynamic structure composed of different types of cellular junctions that can be regulated by physiological and pathological stimuli, and act as a selective barrier to antigens and pathogens. P...

Leaky Gut Syndrome

The chances of being diagnosed with Leaky Gut Syndrome are pretty remote. It does not even occur to many doctors to check for the condition. A further complication is that gut distress often manifests as disease in other parts of the body. Leaky Gut Syndrome is one of the most misunderstood concepts in modern medicine. This condition is associated with an abnormal increase in the permeability o...

Leaky gut and autoimmune diseases.

Autoimmune diseases are characterized by tissue damage and loss of function due to an immune response that is directed against specific organs. This review is focused on the role of impaired intestinal barrier function on autoimmune pathogenesis. Together with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue and the neuroendocrine network, the intestinal epithelial barrier, with its intercellular tight junct...

What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?

Leaky Gut Syndrome is the name given to a very common health disorder in which the intestinal lining is more permeable than normal. The abnormally large spaces present between the cells of the gut wall allow the entry of toxic material into the bloodstream that would, in healthier circumstances, be repelled and eliminated. The gut becomes “leaky” in the sense that bacteria, viruses, fungi, para...

Filtered Kombucha tea ameliorates the leaky gut syndrome in young and old mice model of colitis

Objective(s): Zonula occludens proteins (ZO-1 and ZO-2) are important intracellular tight junction (TJ)-associated proteins that link the cell cytoskeleton to the trans-membrane TJ proteins.  Destruction of TJ proteins is called the “leaky gut syndrome” and has been observed in some of the gastrointestinal diseases such as the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). So, ther...
